The Confucius Institute at UKIM was honored to be invited by the Macedonia Welcome Center to participate in this year’s Diplomatic Charity Bazaar. Held at Marriott Hotel in Skopje, the event brought together international organizations to raise funds for disadvantaged communities in Macedonia.
As part of the charity efforts, volunteer teachers from the Confucius Institute organized a range of activities showcasing Chinese culture. Highlights included a Chinese book sale and live demonstrations of traditional Chinese papercutting and calligraphy. The calligraphy booth, in particular, was a crowd favorite, as attendees eagerly purchased personalized calligraphy pieces as unique souvenirs.
Adding to the event’s vibrancy, the volunteer teachers captivated the audience with stunning performances of traditional Chinese dance and the Hulusi, a traditional Chinese wind instrument.
The children’s program was another highlight, featuring students from Teacher Yang Mingwei’s Chinese Music Class. Their lively performances of Chinese songs and dances, including pieces like Mongolian Dance and The Woodpecker, delighted the audience. The program concluded with a heartfelt choral performance of the Macedonian classic Bitola, My Hometown, performed by seven students and their parents. This moving finale left a lasting impression on everyone present.
The event was further distinguished by the attendance of Madam Siljanovska Davkova, the President of Macedonia, whose presence underscored the importance of this meaningful gathering.
