About us

Confucius Institute at Ss Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje was founded by China National Office for Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language(NOCFL),Ss Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, and Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in Chengdu, China(SWUFE).Up till now, it is still the unique Confucius Institute In Macedonia.

Since it was founded in 2013, there have been over 1000 students registered for learning Chinese, including infants, pupils, middle school students,college students and adults of different ages. It has cooperated with many primary schools, middle schools,companies and governmental agencies and set updifferent types of Chinese courses. The Confucius Institute has not only established Chinese courses in Ss Cyril and Methodius University, elementary and high schools, companies, but alsointerest-oriented classes to communities in Macedonia.Confucius Institute at Ss Cyril and Methodius University has built good relations with the government of Macedonia.In the past five years, it has set up Chinese courses successively in over 10 government ministries and sectors. It has gainedmany positive feedbacksfrom the trainees.

In order to provide more convenient platforms for the learners to study, practice and examine Chinese language, Confucius Institute successfully held the first Chinese Bridge World University Chinese Competition in Macedonia. Since 2018, the Confucius Institute has set up HSK(the test of Chinese language ability) test center.

Confucius Institute at Ss Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje holds cultural activities every year such as Spring Festival Gala, Mid-Autumn Festival Gala, the tea Culture festival, Confucius Institute Day and so on. The number of the events has reached over 160 in 5 years since the Institute established. Macedonia mainstream media reported it widely every time.

Each year, the Institute organizes presentations of scholarships for studying in China help more than 20 students to get the scholarship and study in China, especially in our partner university SWUFE in Chengdu. Meanwhile, every summer vacation SWUFE will organize summer camp “Discover SWUFE”. More than 100 Macedonian students attended this activity in recent 5 years.

In 2017, we successfully organized an International conference the Third China – CEE forum, held in Ohrid with participation of scholars from China, 16 CEE and other countries.

In 2018, the First Macedonian – Chinese conference on economics and finance was held at the Faculty of Law at UKIM.

The colorful cultural and academic activities make much more people in Macedonia learn about Chinese culture and academic achievements, and makes positive contributions to the cultural and academicexchange between China and Macedonia.
