On May 11, the 2025 “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition — North Macedonia Final — was successfully held at the Faculty of Philology, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. Twenty-six students from the Confucius Institute at UKIM took part in the event, demonstrating their impressive Chinese language skills and appreciation of Chinese culture.
In the university and adult category, Sofiia Mirkovska won first prize. In the high school group, Radmila Koleva, Sofija Stavreva, and Iva Josimovska secured the top three positions. In the primary school group, Dragana Angelovska, Jovana Krstevska, and Ilina Siljanovska were awarded first, second, and third prizes, respectively.
The award ceremony featured student performances, including singing and dancing by a group from the Confucius Institute’s Chinese music class. Distinguished guests in attendance included Mr. Xu Lei, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in North Macedonia; Prof. Aleksandar Skopalovski, Vice Rector of Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje; and Prof. Liao Wei, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, who each delivered congratulatory remarks and presented the awards.
Over the years, the “Chinese Bridge” Competition has attracted increasing participation and recognition, becoming one of the signature events of the Confucius Institute at UKIM. The Institute remains committed to fostering mutual understanding and friendship through language and cultural education.
