On October 12, 2018, Liao Wei, the Chinese dean of the Confucius Institute at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, and Vlatko Stoilkov, the Macedonian dean, were invited to attend the anniversary reception of the 25th establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Macedonia.
Yin Lixian, the Chinese Ambassador to Macedonia said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 25 years ago, the relations between the two countries have achieved rapid development and maintained a good momentum of development on the basis of mutual respect and equal treatment. The political mutual trust between the two sides has continuously deepened, humanities exchanges have become increasingly close, and economic and trade cooperation has steadily advanced. She also mentioned that the Confucius Institute at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University has just celebrated its 5th anniversary. Over the past five years, more than a thousand Macedonians registered to study Chinese, and made significant contributions to promoting cultural exchanges and friendly cooperation between China and Macedonia and solidifying the friendly public opinion base of the two countries.
Later, Andrej Zernovski, deputy minister of foreign affairs of Macedonia and Ljupcho Malenkov, the president of China-Macedonia friendly association, concluded that since the establishment of diplomatic ties there have been close communication and political trust between the two countries. They also expressed their gratitude to China for all the support. Macedonia government will continue to take part in the cooperation of ‘16+1’ and the construction of ‘he Belt and Road’ for the purpose of better understanding and deeper cooperation in different fields.
