On 5.10.2018, there is a 5th Anniversary Celebration of the establishment of Confucius Institute at Ss Cyril and Methodius University in Macedonian Drama and Ballet Theatre. Over 300 guests attended this celebration, including Lixian Yin, Chinese Ambassador to Macedonia; Nikola Jankulovski, principal of Ss Cyril and Methodius University; Biljana Angelova, the vice chancellor; staff and students of Confucius Institute and local citizens.
At 7:00pm, after Liao Wei, the Chinese dean and Vlatko Stoilkov, the Macedonian dean of the Confucius Institute delivered a speech to appreciate everyone’s support over the past five years, Nikola Jankulovski, the principal, issued a certificate of completion to over a hundred students of Confucius Institute.
Meanwhile, 32 delicate boards about the development of the Confucius Institute in the past 5 years are displayed in the theater hall. It shows the fruitful accomplishment of language teaching, culture activities and academic communication. Also, there was a presentation on calligraphy, Chinese painting and paper cutting that makes guests find it very interesting and attractive.
At 8:00pm, the celebration officially began. Nikola Jankulovski and Lianxian Yin delivered a speech successively to extend their congratulations on the fifth anniversary of the establishment. They affirmed the contribution of Confucius Institute on cultural exchange between China and Macedonia, praised the solidarity and cooperation of all employees, and expressed confidence in the bright future of China- Macedonia friendly exchanges. Then Liao Wei and Vlatko Stoilkov briefly introduced the development plan of the Confucius Institute.
Next, Nikola Jankulovski and Biljana Angelova expressed their sincere gratitude to the enterprises and units that have supported the construction of the Confucius Institute and certain certificates were granted for such support.
At last, wonderful performances brought the celebration to a climax. Macedonian famous singer Su Lan and Chinese music teacher jointly presented the Chinese and Macedonian songs. Dancer Elena Restiska performed modern dance.
There is also a Guzheng solo called New Song of Dongting, a Tai Chi performance, and Macedonian traditional dancing. Truly it is an audiovisual feast. Multiple media reported news on the celebration.
We are glad to see that the success of the celebration expanded the influence of the Confucius Institute, which we hope will promote the future development of Confucius Institute.
