On February 7, 2018, Professor Ke Jing from Beijing Foreign Studies University was invited to give a lecture on the theme of traditional Chinese culture and contemporary society of China to the Confucius Institute at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University. More than 100 people attended this lecture, including students of Confucius Institute and other Macedonian folks.
Before the lecture, Liao Wei, the Chinese dean of the Confucius Institute, expressed his warm welcome to Professor Ke Jing and gave a brief introduction to Professor Ke Jing’s resume. At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Ke Jing first introduced Beijing Foreign Studies University and said it is one of the best foreign language universities in China, and its number of Confucius Institutes ranks first among all the universities across the country. Professor Ke Jing welcomes all of you here to China to study Chinese at Beijing Foreign Studies University. The lectures mainly introduce China’s national conditions and culture from the aspects of food, dialect, philosophy, transportation, internet, economy, etc., covering all aspects of China, and the audience found it very interesting. Then, Professor Ke Jing made a comparison between Chinese philosophical thinking, especially filial piety and family relationship. Professor Ke Jing also vividly introduced the two idioms of ‘Wang Zi Cheng Long’ and ‘Wang Nv Cheng Feng’ to explain the family relationship in China. When introducing the development of high-speed rail in China, everyone expressed surprise at the convenience and speed of the high-speed rail. Professor Ke Jing also talked about the rapid development of e-commerce in China, such as Alipay, shared bicycles, etc. Students are impressed by such convenient electronic payment, and hope that the local can introduce similar technology. Professor Ke Jing said that with the development of the Belt and Road, Macedonia will benefit from being a country along the Belt and Road and hopes that China and Macedonia will further strengthen cooperation in the future.
At the end of the lecture, Vlatko Stoilkov, the Macedonian dean of Confucius Institut raised questions on the achievements and future development of Chinese economic development. Professor Ke Jing made a detailed and vivid answer. Finally, Vlatko Stoilkov summed up the lecture and thanked Professor Ke Jing again. This lecture also came to an end in a pleasant and joyful atmosphere.
