On December 20, 2017, The Confucius Institute at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University held a scholarship and summer camp project promotion meeting at the National Library of Macedonia to exhibit a vivid and lively journey to China for local Chinese learners. Ms. Olga Dukovska, the management officer of exchange project between China and the European University of Ministry of Education, and Ms. Senka Naumovska, the National Library Director, ,were invited to attend the meeting. More than 100 people from Macedonia participated in the event.

After the host Li Na introduced the guests briefly, Liao Wei, the Chinese dean of the Confucius Institute, and the volunteer teacher Wang Lu introduced the scholarship program of the Hanban in 2018 and the scholarship program of the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. The two hosts gave detailed descriptions about the projects through exciting videos, PPT presentations, and on-site questions, and encouraged the students of Confucius Institute to try their best to learn Chinese, actively apply for scholarships, and strive for learning opportunities in China.

Then, Ms. Olga Dukovska delivered a speech. She said that the Chinese scholarship program is a rare learning opportunity for Macedonian students. She encouraged all students to learn Chinese and actively submit applications. At the same time, she also expressed the hope to strengthen cooperation between China and Macedonia in the field of education.

Anita Samardjioska, the student of Confucius Institute reported on what she saw and heard in China on behalf of the campers who went to Chengdu Southwestern University of Finance and Economics to participate in the Chinese Summer Camp this summer. Anita Samardjioska has studied Chinese at the Confucius Institute for two years. She was enrolled in the 2017 Summer Camp out of her love for Chinese language and culture. Although she only stayed in Chengdu for two weeks, it was an unforgettable experience. She used pictures and videos to introduce the interesting things about learning Chinese at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, the friendship of Chinese friends, the bustling street scene of Chengdu, and pandas, all kinds of snacks, traditional Sichuan opera faces and so on. China’s profound traditional culture and the thriving modern urban life have deeply attracted the students of Confucius Institute on the spot. Everyone were eager to try to win the opportunity to study in China.

Finally, Ren Qinglam, volunteer of Confucius Institute introduced the Chinese language courses and HSK exams currently offered by the Confucius Institute. After the introduction of the project and course, students from the School of Drama in Ss. Cyril and Methodius University performed a dance drama Wendao. The Chinese characteristics of the dance drama inspired the audience to be curious about Chinese culture. The recommendation was strongly supported by the Macedonian government department, and most students of the government class participated in the event.
